DIVING
AquaMarine Diving - Bali Amed - Day Trips
Amed is located on the north-east coast of Bali. By car, about 15 mins south of Tulamben, along the main road, and then 15mins on a local road, so Amed is much prettier than Tulamben. Due to the easy conditions at Amed, it is suitable both for novice and experienced divers. On the outskirts of Amed, you can see traditional salt-panning and buy sea salt as a souvenir of your visit!

Immediately outside Jemeluk Bay are 2 dive sites, Amed Wall and Amed Reef, both of which can be done as a shore- or boat-dives. The boats are small outriggers (jukung) - long and narrow fishing boats.

VISIBILITY : 15 - 25 metres

CURRENT : Zero to mild current

DEPTHS : 3 - 40 metres (average depth 18 metres)

MIN LEVEL : Introductory

CONDITIONS : Black sand beach sloping into the water, coral reefs and a wall. As the outriggers are small, divers put on/remove equipment in the water.

AquaMarine Diving - Bali Beach BBQ - Special Day Trips
1 dive Gili Biaha plus 1 dive Blue Lagoon/Tepekong/Mimpang. Your surface interval is spent on a white sand beach (which is usually deserted) just north of Biaha for a Barbeque Lunch of grilled fish, satays, salads and Balinese vegetables and sauces.
Beach BBQ - Special Day Trips

AquaMarine Diving - Bali Canyon & Shark Point - Special Day Trips
Diving at Mimpang and Tepekong. We don't guarantee that you will see sharks here but we'll be extremely surprised if you don't! In the event that either site is undiveable, our back-up site is the Blue Lagoon at which sharks are also frequently seen.
Canyon & Shark Point - Special Day Trips

AquaMarine Diving - Bali Gili Selang - Special Day Trips
1 dive at Gili Selang + 1 dive at Gili Biaha (depending on conditions). This exciting day trip will take you to 2 of Bali's least visited dive sites and most untouched dive sites. Conditions can be difficult so this trip is for experienced divers only. If the water conditions mean that we cannot dive at either Gili Selang or Gili Biaha we would dive at Blue Lagoon, Mimpang or Tepekong, all fantastic alternatives!
Gili Selang - Special Day Trips

AquaMarine Diving - Bali Manta Point and Bat Cave - Special Day Trips
Manta Point, south-west Nusa Penida, is where manta ray, tuna and tiger mackerel sometimes come in to feed. You have a good chance of seeing these pelagics, but it isn't guaranteed. The Bat Cave is on the north side of a small sheltered bay and, although the approach is from underwater, is open to the sky. A drift-dive along a wall heavily populated with lobsters, which may yield leopard shark and eagle rays comes after the Bat Cave. (note: early pick-up from your hotel).
Manta Point and Bat Cave - Special Day Trips

AquaMarine Diving - Bali Menjangan - Day Trips
It was in 1978 that Menjangan became Bali's first internationally-known dive location. Consequently, in older dive guidebooks, Menjangan is described as having beautiful reef flats. Unfortunately that is no longer true. On a more positive note, Menjangan is actually famous for the wall-diving.

The walls descend to varying depths, the shallowest being 26m, the deepest 60m+. The walls offer the greatest diversity of gorgonian fans in Bali. They generally start at 10m with the flat coral reefs offering gentle conditions and lots of sunlight. These are full of medium and small fish. The walls are full of small nooks and crannies, overhangs, and bigger cavelettes, crevasses, etc. They are covered with soft corals, gorgonian fans, sponges.

AquaMarine Diving - Bali Mola-Mola - Special Day Trips
Diving at certain sites around Nusa Penida, from September to November season, we have a very good chance of seeing these weird and wonderful pelagic visitors to Bali's waters.
Mola-Mola - Special Day Trips

AquaMarine Diving - Bali Nusa Penida - Day Trips
Nusa Penida is the largest of 3 islands off the southeast coast of Bali. The water here is fairly cold but often startlingly clear, with gorgeous corals and prolific fish, with some turtle, shark and in season, Mola-Mola (the weird and wonderful Sunfish).

AquaMarine offers nine dive sites at Nusa Penida. The majority of diving at Nusa Penida is drift-diving and the currents are not always predictable.
Nusa Penida - Day Trips

AquaMarine Diving - Bali Secret Bay - Day Trips
While Bali offers great diversity of dive sites, Gilimanuk Bay (or Secret Bay as it is known locally) is unique within Bali. It is the very definition of muck-diving. No rich coral reefs, no depth to speak of, it is basically a site for macro-photographers and for the occasional recreational diver looking for something different from the norm.

Secret Bay contains many rare macro-photography subjects that include nudibranches, dragonets (including both the colorful Mandarinfish and Picture Dragonet), abundant seahorse/pipefish, unusual scorpionfish, frogfish, eels, and many, many other organisms.
Secret Bay - Day Trips

AquaMarine Diving - Bali Tulamben Area - Day Trips
Tulamben has become Bali's most famous diving area and therefore where you are most likely to meet internationally recognised underwater photographers and writers. Tulamben Bay, like the rest of Bali, is situated in the richest marine biogeographic zone in the world. Tulamben is on the north-east coast; the bay receives very plankton-rich waters from the major ocean current that moves from the Pacific to the Indian Ocean. This, coupled with the fact that the three main dive sites provide totally different physical environments, mean that Tulamben contains a stunningly diverse underwater ecosystem.

Atlantis International Adventure Amed
Amed (also known as Jemeluk). Touched by coral bleaching in the mid - 1990's, this site is recovering steadily. A mixture of wall and drift dives, where you'll see schools of bat fish, gorgonian fans and large coral bommies. At times large pelagics have been spotted, like the 2 whale sharks on one dive, and you may spot occasional mantas and reef sharks.

Two main dive sites are located here, "Right" and "Left", both of which are dived by a jukung. This site is a good diversion from Tulamben and a great addition to a Safari on the northern coast. Intermediate to Experienced.
Amed

Atlantis International Adventure Gili Tapekong
Got experience diving? Want a rush? Try one of these sites. Accessible by boat only, these islands just off the east coast of Bali are home to the big stuff - sharks, mola mola, and other pelagics, not to mention leaf fish, frog fish, eels and more. Experienced Divers only! 10-35 meters.
Gili Tapekong

Atlantis International Adventure Menjangan Island
"Deer Island" is located in the West Bali ("Bali Barat") National Park. Large gorgonians populate this area of mild currents. Craigs, crevaces and overhangs offer areas of refuge for lots of small creatures, along with leather corals. The "Anker Wreck" is a wooden vessel of unknown origins. You'll see the anchor in 6 meters of water and can follow the chain down to the bow of the ship at 30 meters. Then cruise along wall dives to see a fantastic array of tropical reef fishes and turtles too! With over 6 distinct dive sites here, you can stay several days and see it all. Intermediate to Experienced.
Menjangan Island

Atlantis International Adventure Nusa Penida / Lembongan
Toyapakeh

Toyapakeh is probably the most dived site on Nusa Penida, largely due to the crystal clear water and the bay offering some protection from the current moving through the straight. The unusual topography in parts of the reef made up of huge coral boulders and pillars make it a nice change from the much flatter and low growing coral of Nusa Penida's north coast. With the constant flurry of 'residents' of this underwater city, a diver feels like a Zeppelin floating across its skyline. Chance encounters with Mola molas and other pelagics are another reason why Toyapakeh is so popular. Though somewhat protected, the currents can pick up and change quickly so it's recommended Intermediate to Experienced divers visit here - 25-35 meters.

Nusa Penida's North Coast

With currents ranging from 1.5 to a roaring 4+ knots, Just about every dive here is a drift dive. Although it makes for generally low and tough coral growth, these conditions, combined with the proximity of deeper water makes the north coast the ideal place to spot Mola molas, sharks and other pelagics. But beware, currents change quickly and these sites are best left to the more experienced divers. Sites like "S.D.", "Ped" and "Bayuk" have healthy growths of Staghorn coral and rich marine life. Look for the large Tridacna clams at "S.D." as the resident novelty you'll be hard pressed to find anywhere else. Intermediate to Experienced divers 10-35 meters.
Nusa Penida / Lembongan

Atlantis International Adventure Padang Bay
Tangung Sari (also known as Citizens' Point)

Float over a diverse paradise of sandy plains, coral bommies and soft coral gardens. And it's not just the geology here that's impressive (volcanic rock capping limestone reef rocks). An array of nudibranchs in amazing colors, cowries bigger than your fist, and cuttlefish that will follow you for the entire dive! You might even spot wobbegong sharks (season is August to November). A night dive here is an event to live for! Novice to Experienced Divers - 5 to 20 meters.

Blue Lagoon

At first glance, the seemingly unimpressive coral growth may turn off the unappreciative diver, but for those who take a closer look, Blue Lagoon can offer some interesting surprises as this site supports a distinct set of animals. The shallowness of this dive make it a great site for photography. You'll witness evolution in the making while the reef undergoes regrowth, bringing about marine life and aquatic creatures you won't find anywhere else. Novice to Experienced - 17 meters deep. Kid Friendly!

Bias Tugal

You may not find it in the books on diving in Bali but it's up near the top in our book! Carpeted in pastel soft corals, it looks like you're playing in a field of Sherbert! Find incredible black and blue ribbon eels, black tip sharks, turtles, leaf fish and more hiding under small coral bommies in this slow drift dive. A great site for photography of the little things in life. With an average depth of 10 meters, it's a long beautiful dive here for photographers or novices alike. Novice to Experienced divers - 10 meters. Kid Friendly!
Padang Bay

Atlantis International Adventure Sanur
Despite the numerous local dive shops in the area, these two are not high on our list of favourite dive sites, far from it in fact. The reef is situated approximately 400 metres from the beach but is accessible only by Jukung (traditional outrigger canoe). On occasion, the active marine life may surprise you, (Marc's even got up close and personal with a shark), but for the most part, dives here are all too often unremarkable, if not disappointing. Due to the variables of both sea and weather conditions playing a big part, it makes these sites an inconsistent choice at best.

Clint Eastwood once asked; "Let me ask you something... are you feeling lucky, punk?" Should you decide you'd like to take your chances, we'll be happy to accommodate your request. We can't promise you fabulous dives, but who knows, you may get lucky and be pleasantly surprised. Depth - 5 to 14 metres. Novice to experienced.
Sanur

Atlantis International Adventure Tulamben
Tulamben offers a first-class wreck dive on the US Cargo ship Liberty. She was torpedoed on February 11th, 1942 and susequently beached at Tulamben where she sat for more than two decades. In 1963, the erruption of Agung on March 17th sent rivers of lava flowing down and across eastern Bali, taking with it the Liberty to her final resting place. She now sits on a sandy slope between 3 and 36 m. With almost 40 years of colonization of marine life, the Liberty wreck is a favourite of photographers, marine biologists, wreck afficionadoes and divers alike. Kid friendly!

With such a splendid novelty of a fabulous wreck dive, it's easy to overlook the other treasures Tulamben has to offer. An impressive wall dive at the South end of Tulamben Bay is a forum in which a colourful seascape of sponge life and coral growth are displayed in all of their magnificence. All of which are a back drop to the drop off into the deep blue abyss where you're likely to find the larger species of open ocean pelagics and marine life. At 30 m, the huge gorgonian spanning over 2 meters that marks the corner of the drop off, is the site's definitive landmark and truly a sight to be seen.

Between the wreck and the drop-off, Tulamben's house reef is teeming with activity. With such a dense population of varies life forms in a compact 200m stretch of reef, you'll find a little bit of everything here. Along with the reef fish you'd come to expect, multiple sightings of not-so-common sea creatures that make the difference between a good dive and something special, are guaranteed every time a diver clumsily hobbles out over the ocean worn lava rock in front of the Matahari Resort and straps on their fins. Ribbon eels, lion fish, stone fish, stargazers, leaf fish, octopus and strobing cuttle fish are among the many interesting inhabitants of this reef. And with so many cracks and crevices for invertebrates to seek refuge in, it makes for a great night dive.

The Tulamben house reef is shallow and close to shore, so divers enjoy long, easy dives and it makes it a favourite for snorkellers. 7 metres.
